Bill Clinton dubbed Paul Hawken's book Natural Capitalism one of the ten most important books in the world. It also inspired Ray Anderson, CEO of Interface, to turn his entire business around and go green. I agree with Paul in that our ecological and environmental circumstances are a “Both - And” kind of a situation. If we only look at what humans have created and see it as evidence for what we are capable of creating in the future, then the average person would think that life as we know it is certainly doomed. IF, however, you look into your own heart, and allow yourself to feel your desire for creating a world in which human beings make choices based upon what is the healthiest for all life forms involved, including microscopic soil and cellular life – yes, it is possible to do this–then your heart's desire will lead you into action, and you will inspire others and you will create a movement and add to the momentum of positive change.
Always remember this: our conscious ideas create our reality. Look inside yourself first and then take action. Pretty soon you will have created the image in your mind. Look outside to help you figure out what you care about. Then look in. Then act. Share your passions. Spread your joy. Use your talents to make the world into what it can be.
